Our Region's Priorities:

WATER

SCOPE

  • Improving water quality (including managing instream and groundwater salinity)
  • Managing water supplies, allocation and use
  • Protecting freshwater-dependent ecosystems

The focus is on the management of inland water resources, ie all water upstream of the high tide mark, and includes both surface waters and groundwater. Specific issues, targets and actions that are relevant to managing salinity in water systems are covered in this chapter.

Appendix 7 in the Supplementary Information document lists the many current water management programs and practices in the Region.

For more detailed information please see Chapter 5: Managing Water in the Strategy.
