Our Region's Priorities:

LAND

SCOPE

  • Managing soils
    (including dryland
    salinity)
  • Managing geodiversity

The issue of increasing salinity is a cross-NRM issue that is relevant to water and soil management, biodiversity and infrastructure. Activities to address salinity problems will often need to be integrated across different sectors.

However to enable a thorough discussion of the issues, salinity in soils (dryland salinity) is  also covered, while problems specific to salinity in water systems are addressed in Chapter 5: Managing Water.

Appendix 8 in the Supplementary Information document lists the many current soil and geodiversity management programs and practices in the Region.

For more detailed information please see Chapter 6: Managing Land Resources of the Strategy.
