How we Began

Under the Tasmanian NRM Framework and Act 2002, the State Government facilitated the establishment of Regional NRM Committees for each of the three regions of the State.

Unique amongst Regional NRM Bodies, in the Cradle Coast region the Committee is hosted by the Cradle Coast Authority.

The Committee is responsible for identifying regional NRM priorities, preparing strategies and promoting NRM principles.

The Authority’s primary role is to broker partnerships between the different levels of government, industry and community groups and to address priorities for development on a regional scale.  Cradle Coast NRM functions as a business unit of the Cradle Coast Authority.

Cradle Coast NRM’s position within the Authority has been integral in helping develop a coordinated delivery model for natural resource management in north west Tasmania.
