I’m Rick Rocliff and I’m the Chair of NRM Cradle Coast. I work as the Field Operations Manager for Tasmanian Alkaloids and have been with the company for 34 years. I’m also the Deputy Mayor of the Latrobe Council. I originally became involved in natural resource management through the Merseylea Landcare group although as a farmer I’ve been practicing it for over 40 years. When you combine my farming, local government, work experience and interests I guess I was always going to be involved in NRM in the region, something I find very rewarding. When I’m not doing all that I’m a board member of the Australian Regional Arts, Tasmanian Business Enterprise Centres and the Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group.

I believe in the strength of the community to drive us forward into a more just and equitable future. I’m a lecturer and Sub-Dean of the Arts Faculty, University of Tasmania. I like to work closely with people in the region. I’m the Deputy Chair of the NRM Committee and a member of the North-West Environment Centre, the Tarkine National Coalition, and the Loonganna fire brigade. I also love working on my organic farm, especially growing spuds and raspberries. My experience and interest in NRM stems from my work in the COAG Water Reform policy (Water Allocation & Management Planning process) & Regional Forest Agreement (Qld) social assessment.

I’m passionate about the land and all the systems it supports. In my work I get to take people to experience our unique landscape and wildlife. To manage our natural resources in a wise manner will ensure that we can go on indefinitely and with improvements. That’s important to me and our community. I’ve been a farmer for over 30 years and now a wildlife tour operator and tour guide. I recently became the Chairman of the Tasmanian Conservation Trust. I’m also a member of the North-West District Consultative Committee, Arthur Pieman Management Committee and Circular Head Tourism Association.
