Habitat management incentives

Proponent: Greening Australia

Protect priority habitat (1300ha) in the region. Provide management advice to sixty landholders and raise awareness of vegetation issues. Include habitats that are strategic for biodiversity, such as King Island.

Migratory Birds

Proponent: Threatened Species Unit (DPIW)

Improve awareness, monitoring and protection of shorebirds in the Cradle Coast Region.

Priority flora

Proponent: Threatened Species Unit (DPIW)

Produce a list of priority flora and maps for the region by updating surveys and research. Provide management guidelines.

Giant freshwater lobster

Proponent: Waterwatch and Todd Walsh

Population survey, database maintenance and building of public awareness.

 

 

Regional weeds management

Proponent: Cradle Coast NRM (managed in-house)

Co-ordinate weed management through the Regional Weeds Committee. Management of weeds including mapping, prioritisation and eradication.

Threatened species recovery

Proponent: Threatened Species Unit (DPIW)

Integrated project to assist threatened species recovery. Support development and co-ordinate implementation of threatened species recovery plans and protection measures in the Cradle Coast region. Engage stakeholders for uniform implementation across all land tenures.

Threatened species – hollow nesting fauna

Proponent: Sarah Monks

A stand alone project that links in with threatened species project to confirm area of habitat required to be viable.
