The establishment of the Natural Resource Management Advisory Group (NRMAG) is a requirement of the Bilateral Agreement for the Natural heritage Trust Extension (NHT2). It consists of the State Natural Resource Management Council plus two members who are appointed jointly by the Ministers (Australian and State).
The NRMAG met first in July 2004 and has provided significant input to the Ministerial advice on the accreditation of the regional strategies and approval of regional investment proposals.

The two members of the NRMAG who are additional to the NRM Council are Meredith Roodenrys and Ian Dickenson, both of whom are highly experienced and respected players in Tasmanian NRM.
